Vector and bitmap images are two different formats that define whether or not the picture can be resized with or without loss of quality. Vector images can be resized while retaining their quality whereas bitmap images will lose the definition. The way this process works is reasonably
simple, instead of the computer resizing the pixels (which is how Bitmap images work when enlarging) the computer uses mathematical equations to resize each shape and redraws the image as if it had been drawn to that scale. For part of this project I created an image in Illustrator based on an image found on the internet which could then be used as an example to show the benefits of using Vector based images. After exporting the Vector image into a .png file it was easily comparable to the Bitmap on how well the file type retains its quality.
